Maurice Edu's future was a bit of a question mark at the start of the offseason, but it turns out he is staying in the City of Brotherly Love.
The Philadelphia Union announced on Wednesday morning that they have signed Edu to a multi-year deal. Edu had joined the club ahead of the start of the 2014 season on loan, meaning a deal needed to be worked out between the Union and Premier League club Stoke City in order for Edu to return to Philadelphia.
The terms of the deal were been disclosed.
“Mo is an extremely important player to our organization and we’re excited that he will be in Philadelphia for the foreseeable future,” said Union technical director Chris Albright in a statement. “We look forward to him helping lead us toward building a winning team.”

A versatile veteran with World Cup experience, Edu, 28, took no time in integrating himself into the Union's lineup. He started all 31 regular-season games he played in, scoring three goals and delivering two assists en route to a spot on the MLS All-Star team.
“I couldn’t be happier to permanently return to Philadelphia and to play in front of our great fans,” said Edu. “I believe in this team’s future and am excited to be an integral part of that.”
