ORIGINAL Dec. 8, 10:30 am ET: The New York Red Bulls are finalizing the loan of forward Mathias Jorgensen to Danish club AGF, a source confirmed to MLSsoccer.com. The deal includes a purchase option.
Jorgensen tweeted early Tuesday morning he couldn't wait to get started with the club.
He joined the Red Bulls ahead of the 2019 season for a reported $2.5 million transfer fee.
Jorgensen, 20, never quite made his mark in MLS. The forward had 383 minutes scattered across 13 appearances (three starts), with no goals or assists. He did have 11 goals in 21 appearances for RBNY II in the USL Championship.
Prior to joining the Red Bulls, Jorgensen debuted for Odense Boldklub’s first team at age 17 and appeared in 18 matches across all competitions, scoring three goals in 572 minutes. He’d previously played in 25 matches for OB’s Under-19 side, scoring 28 times in 2,112 minutes played, and notched nine goals in nine games for the club’s reserve team.
