Fresh from their long-awaited return to action earlier this month, the US men's national team will continue their preparations for a hectic 2021 with a friendly against El Salvador at Inter Miami CF Stadium in Fort Lauderdale on Dec. 9, US Soccer announced Sunday. The game will kick off at 7:30 pm ET and be shown live on an ESPN network, UniMás and TUDN.
After being sidelined since February due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the US returned with a goalless draw against Wales and a 6-2 win over Panama using an almost-exclusively European-based roster. Head coach Gregg Berhalter is set to announce his roster for the El Salvador matchup on Tuesday.
“Playing against El Salvador gives us an opportunity to face a Concacaf opponent that we haven’t seen yet and will be a valuable experience,” Berhalter said in a federation release. “We want to build on this year’s work while continuing to evaluate the player pool as we head into a busy 2021.”
A capacity of 2,500 fans will be able to attend the game. As the Official Payment Technology Partner of U.S. Soccer, Visa cardholders have exclusive access to the Visa presale, which begins Friday, Dec. 4 at 10 am ET. Sales to the general public will begin Saturday, Dec. 5.
As well as the Concacaf U-23 championship to determine qualification for the Olympics, the USMNT will also take part in the Concacaf Nations League final four before beginning qualification for the 2022 World Cup in September.
