DraftKings recently announced some important scoring and roster updates, so be sure to get familiar with the new format prior to building your lineups. Also, follow @MLSFantasy on Twitter for updates on starting lineups, tips and more on Sunday.
Goalkeepers
Obvious Pick: Jesse Gonzalez ($4,200) faces a tall task going to Seattle, but the FC Dallas shotstopper has kept a clean sheet in three of his last four games - conceding just once over that span.
Budget Pick: Bill Hamid ($3,400) has led D.C. United to three straight wins at home and will be called upon to make some big saves once again on Sunday.
Defenders
Obvious Pick: Harrison Afful ($4,000) has one assist on 14 crosses to go along with a pair of clean sheets in Columbus’ last three games.
Budget Pick: Donny Toia ($2,900) won six tackles against Toronto FC on Thursday en route to 10.5 points on DraftKings.
Sleeper Pick: Waylon Francis ($3,100) is a good alternative to Afful if you’re looking to save some cash. He contributed an assist on Decision Day and should benefit from the new scoring system.
Midfielders
Obvious Pick: Now available to roster as a midfielder, Clint Dempsey ($7,400) looks to have found his scoring touch again with three goals and 46 DraftKings points over his last two games.
Budget Pick: Ignacio Piatti ($5,800) has hit his stride just in time for the Montreal Impact. The Argentine had 1 goal, 1 assist, 8 shots and 28 points in Thursday’s Knockout Round win over Toronto.
Sleeper Pick: Jorge Villafaña ($3,100) is a defender but is listed as a midfielder on DraftKings. Regardless of positioning, he’s been productive lately with 1 goal, 2 assists and 42.5 pts in his last three games.
Forwards
Obvious Pick: The DraftKings Player of the Month -- Didier Drogba ($7,900) -- has 10 goals and 179.5 pts in his last six home games. He’ll go toe-to-toe with Golden Boot runner-up Kei Kamara ($8,400) on Sunday.
Budget Pick: Nelson Valdez ($3,600) justified his surprise start by scoring a goal in Seattle’s 3-2 win over the LA Galaxy on Wednesday. If he keeps his spot in the Starting XI he’s certainly worthy of consideration.
Sleeper Pick: Lucas Melano ($4,900) has a pair of assists in Portland’s last three games, and he earned 13 points on Thursday without a goal or an assist.
