8:30 p.m. ET (MLS LIVE)
It’s a critical match in the Western Conference playoff chase ahead of #DecisionDay when Sporting Kansas City play host to the Colorado Rapids on Wednesday evening at Sporting Park. SKC still have not secured their place in the Audi 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs, but they can do so with a victory, following their 1-0 loss at the San Jose Earthquakes last weekend. The Rapids have been eliminated from playoff contention as they face two road games to conclude the season, coming off a fourth consecutive defeat in a 1-0 home loss to the Montréal Impact in their last match.
- Sporting are still a win away from clinching a spot in the Audi 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs, following their 1-0 loss at the San Jose Earthquakes on Friday in their last match.
- The Rapids saw their losing streak extended to four games, and their overall winless run to six matches, following a 1-0 loss to the Montréal Impact at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in their last game on Oct. 10.
- The teams are meeting for the third time this season, each having won on their home ground. Krisztian Nemeth and an own goal led Sporting to a 2-0 victory, June 27 at Sporting Park; Maynor Figueroa and Kevin Doyle scored second-half goals to lead the Rapids to a 2-1 win, Aug. 29 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
- The Rapids victory in the last meeting ended a nine-game winless streak against Sporting. Since the last Colorado win, March 28, 2009 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, KC was 4-0-5 vs. Colorado.
- The Rapids haven’t won in Kansas City since 2002, a 2-1 win at Arrowhead Stadium. Since, Kansas City is 9-0-4 at home vs. Colorado.
