Saturday night's match between Sporting Kansas City and the Colorado Rapids at Sporting Park was postponed due to inclement weather in the area.
A time and date for the rescheduled match is still to be determined.
The match, originally scheduled to kick off at 7:30pm local time, was delayed for nearly an hour and a half due to heavy rain and lightning, before the postponement was officially announced just before 9pm local time.
The postponement may be a blessing in disguise for a Sporting Kansas City team missing injured midfielders Graham Zusi and Roger Espinoza, and defender Seth Sinovic, who was a late scratch after picking up an injury during warmups.
This is the second MLS match postponed due to weather this season after a March 20 game between the Philadelphia Union and FC Dallas was called off due to snow, which made the pitch unplayable.
Even more recently, an Amway Canadian Championship semifinal match on May 3 between Vancouver Whitecaps and FC Edmonton was also postponed due to snow in Edmonton.
Perhaps the most memorable postponement in MLS history occurred in November 2012, when blizzard conditions before the second leg of the Eastern Conference semifinal between the New York Red Bulls and D.C. United forced the game to be played the next day.
