The rumors of FC Barcelona legend Carles Puyol making a move to MLS have been circulating for a few years now.
On Monday the rumor mill engulfed the Colorado Rapids after reports from Spain indicated that the soon-to-be 37-year-old defender could be coming out of retirement to play for the MLS side.
The MLS club declined to comment on the stories, but a source told the Denver Post that "the Rapids have not extended an offer."
Meanwhile, a different Spanish daily, Mundo Deportivo, published a story that names a different MLS team: "New York."
Defensive issues is not exactly what ails the Rapids in the early goings of the 2015 season. They only conceded their first goals of the season last weekend against New England, but Colorado are the only team still without a goal scored after four matches.

Rapids fans are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Designated Player and forward Kevin Doyle, who was signed by the club in March. The Republic of Ireland international will join the Rapids in the summer.
As for Puyol, the 2010 World Cup winner played his final match over a year ago on March 3, 2014 after dealing with a problematic knee injury. Spanish daily Sport reported that the former Spain international is on the road to recovery and "is working with the idea of trying a comeback to the playing field."
