TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Report
Julian Korb, who’s currently without a club after making 116 Bundesliga appearances, hopes to one day land in MLS. While there’s no concrete deal reported, ESPN commentator Derek Rae tweeted that Korb told Sky Sport News he’s interested in coming to play in the United States.
“At some point I would love to play in the USA as I like the country a lot,” Korb said.
Korb has enjoyed stints at both Hannover 96 and Borussia Monchengladbach, plus has played for German youth national teams up through their U-21 side. Korb, 28, also has Champions League and Europa League experience. He spent the 2019-20 season with Hannover in the 2. Bundesliga, where he made 26 league appearances.
Currently a free agent, Korb wouldn't require a transfer fee. Teams would just need to have the available budget space as he potentially leaves Germany and signs during the Secondary Transfer Window, which ends Oct. 29.
Should Korb come to MLS, he’d be the latest German to find success here. Philadelphia Union left back Kai Wagner has impressed, D.C. United midfielder Julian Gressel is a proven assist-generator and Nashville SC midfielder Hany Mukhtar has shown flashes during his first season.
Now, should Korb indeed come to MLS, it’s all about finding the right fit – both financially and in terms of opportunity. The absence of a transfer fee could open some pathways.
