In limbo since Toronto FC's signing of Jozy Altidore and Sebastian Giovinco to Designated Player contracts, Brazilian DP forward Gilberto's future might be taking shape.
Brazilian outlet Globo.com is reporting that the 25-year-old striker will join Rio de Janeiro-based club Vasco da Gama on loan through 2015.
Gilberto, 25, has been absent from TFC's preseason camp, and instead has reportedly been training with Vasco over the past few weeks.
The native of Piranhas, Brazil, joined TFC at the start of the 2014 season. At the time of his move, his contract was owned by Porto Alegre powerhouse Internacional, but he was on loan with Sao Paulo club Portuguesa.

In his first season with the Reds, Gilberto was second on the squad with seven goals in 28 appearances. He also added five assists.
No word yet from TFC on whether Gilberto will be loaned out or maybe traded within MLS, but head coach Greg Vanney admitted earlier this week that it is "a unique situation" and that everyone is working to find a solution that suits all the parties involved.
