PHILADELPHIA UNION vs. ORLANDO CITY
PPL Park, Chester, Pa.
October 25, 2015 (WEEK 34, MLS Game #335)
5 p.m. ET (MLS LIVE)
Orlando City SC still have one final chance to claim a berth in the Audi 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs in their inaugural Major League Soccer season, when they meet Philadelphia Union as part of Decision Day at PPL Park on Sunday afternoon. Orlando City must defeat Union by a huge margin – and hope the New England Revolution lose to another expansion side in New York City FC – if they are to clinch sixth place in the Eastern Conference and final postseason spot. OCSC is coming off a 2-1 home win against NYCFC to stay alive last weekend, while Union, already eliminated from playoff consideration, are coming off a 4-1 defeat at the New York Red Bulls last week.
- The Union suffered their second consecutive defeat, falling 4-1 to the New York Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena to conclude their road campaign on Sunday afternoon.
- Orlando City are still mathematically alive for a playoff berth in their inaugural MLS season heading into the final weekend following their 2-1 victory against New York City FC on Friday. The Lions need to win and have New England lose – and have the margin of victories total eight goals or more in the two games – to secure a playoff berth.
- The win was the fifth in a row for Orlando City, matching the longest winning streak by an expansion team since the end of the shootout era (also: Montreal Impact, 5 games in 2012). The MLS record by an expansion club was an 11-game winning streak for the Chicago Fire in 1998.
- The teams are meeting for the second time. They reached a scoreless draw in their first encounter on Aug. 8 at the Citrus Bowl.
