Grab a tissue and get ready for the onion-chopping ninja! Today's waterworks come courtesy of FC Dallas, who marked the recent July 4 holiday by honoring the service of U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Jerry Holcomb with a mammoth surprise.
Holcomb enlisted in 2001 and served 13 years in the U.S. Army, including three tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Now that Holcomb's back in the Dallas area, though, the team – along with the national nonprofit Operation Finally Home – wanted to make sure he felt truly at home. So in a post-game celebration, they brought on the big reveal: a custom-built, mortgage-free home for Holcomb, his wife, and his two sons.
Operation Finally Home gifts new, mortgage-free homes to combat-wounded veterans; Holcomb's commendations include two purple hearts.
Your own heart might burst around the 2:00 mark, when the reality of the gift appears to sink in for Holcomb and his wife.
