New York City FC's Alexandru Mitrita had a strong start to life in Saudi Arabia, scoring on his debut with Al-Ahli in the Saudi Professional League, where he is currently out on loan.
The midfielder received the ball on the edge of the penalty area for his first goal, took a touch that bounced and then hit it on the volley to score the only goal of the game against Al-Wehda.
Mitrita joined the Saudi side on loan earlier this month, with a deal that runs until January 31, 2022. The move was motivated by the player's personal life, bringing him closer to his native Romania, where his wife is expecting the couple's first child.
