The trade became official on Thursday, as Muyl was traded for Nashville’s 2020 and 2021 international picks and an additional $50,000 in GAM in 2021, if Muyl meets certain performance-based metrics.

“Alex displays all the qualities we look for in a player as we continue to build the foundation of our club,” said Nashville SC GM Mike Jacobs in a statement. “He is a proven winner, industrious, and is an absolute nightmare to play against. His ability to create and finish scoring chances makes him a constant threat.”

“Alex is a true professional and he committed fully to our club during his time here,” said Red Bulls head coach Chris Armas. “Alex set a great example of what it means to be a Red Bull player on the field and he was also a leader in the community. As a staff, we’re thankful for our time with Alex and we wish him only the best."

The New York Red Bulls have agreed to a trade that would send midfielder Alex Muyl to Nashville SC, according to a Tuesday report from The Athletic's Sam Stejskal.

Per Stejskal, RBNY would receive international roster slots for 2020 and 2021 in exchange for Muyl.

Muyl, 24, has been with the Red Bulls since making his pro debut in 2016. He's a Homegrown player, having featured for RBNY's academy from 2011-2013 before playing his college soccer at Georgetown, where he scored 12 goals and dishing out 25 assists in 62 games from 2013-2015. The winger has 11 goals and 18 assists across 6,279 minutes in 113 career MLS appearances.
