NEW YORK CITY FC vs. NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION
Yankee Stadium, Bronx, N.Y.
October 25, 2015 (WEEK 33, MLS Game #336)
5 p.m. ET (MLS LIVE)
A crucial match in the final picture for the Audi 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs brings down the curtain on the inaugural MLS season at Yankee Stadium on Decision Day when New York City FC play host to the New England Revolution on Sunday afternoon. The hosts will not reach the postseason in their first MLS campaign, coming off a 2-1 defeat by expansion brethren Orlando City SC last week at the Citrus Bowl. The Revolution will be in the playoff chase – but now the opportunity to be at home for the Knockout Round is in play, after their 1-0 loss to the Montréal Impact last weekend at Gillette Stadium.
- NYCFC suffered a second consecutive defeat in their final road match of their inaugural season, falling 2-1 at expansion brethren Orlando City SC on Friday evening.
- The Revolution saw their winless streak extended to four matches with a second consecutive defeat, falling 1-0 at the Montréal Impact on Saturday evening. The Revolution need a win or a draw – or to avoid a heavy defeat and a big margin of victory by Orlando City – if they are to return to the MLS Cup Playoffs.
- The teams are meeting for the third time this season, splitting the first two. David Villa and Patrick Mullins scored in each half to lead NYCFC to a 2-0 win March 15 at Yankee Stadium, the first win in the club’s history. On July 18 at Gillette Stadium, Lee Nguyen scored the game’s lone goal to lead the Revolution to victory.
