New York City FC continues to build towards their first season.
On Friday they added to their midfield with the signing of Atlanta Silverbacks midfielder Kwadwo Poku on a transfer from the NASL club.
Poku made 25 appearances for Atlanta in 2014, scoring 2 goals, including the winning goal against MLS side Real Salt Lake in their US Open Cup Fourth Round match.
The versatile 22-year-old has shown his ability since arriving in the US in late 2010. He led the Georgia Revolution of the NPSL in scoring in both 2011 and 2012 before moving to Atlanta in early 2014.
“We are extremely excited to bring a young talent like Poku to New York City as we head into training camp ahead of our inaugural season,” NYCFC sporting director Claudio Reyna said in a statement.
Head coach Jason Kreis added, “In Poku, we are getting a fantastic young player at the perfect stage of his career. He can help strengthen our squad immediately, and at only 22, we know he will develop into an even more important player in the future.”

New York City FC acquired his MLS rights from the Seattle Sounders for a conditional 2017 SuperDraft Pick.
