The New England Revolution's seven-match unbeaten streak will be put to the test when an in-form New York City FC come to Gillette Stadium Wednesday night.
The Revs rallied to earn a 1-1 draw against the New York Red Bulls Saturday night at Gillette with Gustavo Bou leveling six minutes after Omir Fernandez put the visitors in front. NYCFC made it two consecutive wins at their new home of Red Bull Arena, defeating Chicago Fire FC 3-1 Saturday night.
The Revs are 4W-1L-1D all-time at home against NYCFC, including a 2-0 victory in the penultimate week of the 2019 season that clinched an Audi MLS Cup Playoff berth. NYCFC also celebrated in their locker room that night, clinching the top spot in the East, and the Concacaf Champions League berth that came with it, for the first time in club history after Columbus defeated Philadelphia less than an hour later.
New England Revolution
Bou scored the tying goal in the first half and hit the woodwork in the second half, while the Revs continued their streak of not scoring in the final 30 minutes of a game in 2020 in Saturday's 1-1 draw. It was their fifth tie in the club's seven-match unbeaten run.
"Give credit to the team, they didn’t put their heads down and the guys kept playing and it was a nice goal we created and scored," Revs assistant coach Richie Williams said. "Then unfortunately the rest of the game we had other opportunities that were just not clean enough in the final third or being able to get that goal that we need, obviously resulting in a bunch of these draws.”

New York City FC
In what was arguably their best 45 minutes of the season, New York City FC scored twice after halftime to roll to a 3-1 win over Chicago at RBA Saturday night. Not coincidently, NYCFC's best soccer came when Maxi Moralez returned from a nagging calf injury to play the final 45 minutes. The Argentine set up Anton Tinnerholm, who in turn set up Alex Ring for the insurance goal.
“Attacking-wise, he’s the most important player for the team and he makes teammates better. That’s his strength and that’s what I really like about him,” Tinnerholm said of Moralez. “He’s not the guy dribbling five players and scoring. He finds his spaces, today to me and even some balls to Taty [Castellanos] where he can score.”
