TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing

The New England Revolution have signed defender Collin Verfurth to an MLS contract, the club announced Monday. Verfurth is the first player in club history to join the first team after originally signing with their USL team, Revolution II.

Verfurth, 24, was on the Revs II inaugural roster this winter. The team were together for preseason friendlies but have yet to play a competitive game, as the USL League One season was suspended before it began due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Collin made a good impression on our staff and players over the past two weeks, and it became apparent to us that he would be a good addition to our roster,” Revs sporting director and head coach Bruce Arena said in a club statement. “We anticipate that Collin will continue to contribute to Revs II as well as offer important depth to our backline."

Verfurth made 23 appearances for Louden United, D.C. United's USL affiliate, in the USL Championship last season. He made a pair of appearances for D.C. United in friendlies. He previously starred for four seasons at Virginia Tech where he made 72 appearances.

“As we built the Revolution II roster, Collin was selected because we felt he had the potential to make our first team roster,” technical director Curt Onalfo said. “We look forward to seeing Collin continue to develop with the first team, contribute to Revolution II, and for more players to follow in his path.”

The Revs return to play on July 9 against the Montreal Impact in the MLS is Back Tournament.
