A key Eastern Conference matchup ended the same way it began, as the New England Revolution and New York City FC played to a goalless draw at Gillette Stadium in Week 12.
New England had the better of the play for much of the match, but ultimately they were unable to find the breakthrough.
NYCFC's best chance came in the 36th as Gary Mackay-Steven redirected a pass from beyond the left side of the box and right into the hands of goalkeeper Matt Turner. He was again involved in the 78th on a corner-kick routine that found a man in front of goal, but ultimately he was unable to get a shot off.
NYCFC's Joe Scally made history in this one, becoming the youngest player to start a match in the club's history just over three months shy of his 18th birthday. Scally is set to join Bundesliga powerhouse Borussia Moenchengladbach in 2021 following a transfer deal that materialized in November 2019.

- THE BIG PICTURE: You could argue that New England had the better of the play for the bulk of this match despite being unable to put one past goalkeeper Sean Johnson. At the end of the day, the team can take some consolation from the fact that things went much differently than the teams' meeting on September 2, a game that saw Michael Mancienne concede an own goal in the 60th and Héber strike in the 72nd as the Cityzens won 2-0 in Foxborough. While NYCFC hoped to gain three points to move into the top four and and put a little distance between themselves and the Revs, they will be glad to come away with a point to keep pace despite not being at their best.
- MOMENT OF THE MATCH: This nice diving stop by Johnson in the 12th minute turned out to be a foreshadowing for how things would go for the Revs this afternoon.
- MAN OF THE MATCH: We'll go with Johnson, who was credited with seven saves on the afternoon to keep New England at bay.
