MLS INSIDER, presented by adidas: “Bill Hamid"
All Bill Hamid wanted to do was play for D.C. United.
And when he got his shot in 2010, he first made history by becoming the first Homegrown Player to sign with United’s first team and then again when he became the youngest goalkeeper in the league’s history to record a win, in his first start, on May 5, 2010 as a 19-year-old. It’s an inspiring story, especially coming from the mouth of the man himself – now an entrenched MLS star and the reigning MLS Goalkeeper of the Year.
In the latest episode of MLS Insider, Hamid tells his story of coming from humble roots growing up in the D.C. area to earning his first professional contract. Hear not only from Hamid, but his father, Sully, who coached him through the youth ranks, his high school coach, and figures from his youth who still play a role in his life today.
