MLS Insider: A decade after Hurricane Katrina, the aftermath still hits home for NYCFC's Patrick Mullins

MLS Insider: 10 years later, Katrina still hits home for Mullins

MLS INSIDER, presented by adidas: “After the Flood"

"That was my home. It was the only thing I knew – and it was destroyed."

A decade ago, flooding that resulted from Hurricane Katrina ruined the New Orleans home of NYCFC forward Patrick Mullins.

As his family struggled to find stability in the aftermath, living in six different places during the following five months, Mullins was forced to cope without a chance to play the game he loved. Daydreams of formations and scoring opportunities helped a then-13-year-old Mullins through a rocky period that ultimately reinforced his drive toward a professional career.

The latest episode of MLS Insider returns Mullins to his former neighborhood, joined by his parents, as they revisit a time of widespread devastation that literally hit home.
