Philadelphia Union midfielder Zach Pfeffer has been suspended one additional game for his action that drew a red card in the 42st minute of Saturday’s match with FC Dallas, the MLS Disciplinary Committee announced Wednesday.
The committee deemed Pfeffer’s elbow to the head of Mauro Diaz (video above) was “violent conduct” and also levied additional fines for his conduct and failing to leave the field in a timely/orderly manner. Pfeffer will be suspended for a total of two games.
The committee also announced that Vancouver Whitecaps forward Kekuta Manneh was hit with a one-game suspension for his 65th-minute challenge on Orlando City SC’s Aurelien Collin in Saturday’s match at the Citrus Bowl (VIDEO), saying the action “was serious foul play that endangered the safety of an opponent.”
