Philadelphia Union midfielder Fred has been suspended one additional game for his foul that drew a red card in the 72nd minute of Sunday’s match at the Chicago Fire, the MLS Disciplinary Committee announced on Tuesday.
The committee ruled that Fred’s blow to the head of Harry Shipp (WATCH HERE) was “violent conduct which endangered the safety of an opponent.” He was levied with an additional fine for the action and will be suspended for a total of two games.
Fred is the second Union midfielder to be hit by the Disciplinary Committee following a red card offense in the last two weeks; Zach Pfeffer was banned one extra game for his red-card foul on FC Dallas’s Mauro Diaz last week.
The Committee also announced that Toronto FC forward Luke Moore has been suspended and fined for his 20th-minute foul on Real Salt Lake’s Sebastian Jaime in TFC’s 2-1 loss (WATCH HERE). The committee deemed that Moore’s tackle from behind – which earned a yellow card from referee Hilario Grajeda – was “serious foul play that endangered the safety of an opponent” and suspended and fined the English striker.
