The MLS Disciplinary Committee announced Wednesday suspensions and fines for the Chicago Fire’s Matt Watson, Real Salt Lake’s John Stertzer and Sporting Kansas City’s Servando Carrasco, while Houston, Kansas City, Vancouver Whitecaps and D.C. United were all found to have been in violation of the league’s mass confrontation policy in Week 8.
Watson (pictured above) was suspended one game and fined an undisclosed amount for a challenge on New York City FC’s Adam Nemec, in the 27th minute of the game on April 24, that was deemed to be serious foul play (VIDEO).
Stertzer was also suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount for serious foul play, for a tackle on the New England Revolution’s Juan Agudelo in the 10th minute of the game on April 25 (VIDEO).
Carrasco was suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount for violent conduct when he made contact with the Houston Dynamo’s Brad Davis in the 52nd minute of the April 25 game (VIDEO). Additionally, both teams were found to be in violation of the mass confrontation policy.
A mass confrontation in the eighth minute of the April 25 game between Vancouver Whitecaps and D.C. United was also the first violation of the season for both teams.
Additionally, the Disciplinary Committee fined Toronto FC’s Damien Perquis for simulation in the 83rd minute of Sunday’s game against Orlando City (VIDEO).
