As the third episode of ‘What’Cha Got’ comes around, at least one person’s dream of a free Lamborghini has definitively died. Sad trombone!
To jog your memory, here’s how the series, sponsored by Continental Tires, works. Each episode features a player or personality from the MLS universe and checks out their current ride – then gives them a chance for an upgrade.
With the contest divided into an east-west format, each episode’s featured driver gets a chance to race a Lamborghini around the track. If they can beat the time from the previous participant in their conference, they get to hang on another week.
So far, we’ve seen Gyasi Zardes, repping the west, notch an impressive 37.76 seconds. Then, last week, FOX’s Julie Stewart-Binks, for the east, made it around the track in 41.72 seconds.
Bad news for Julie, though: Maurice Edu, of the Philadelphia Union, leaves her in the dust in this week’s episode, and now holds the east’s current fastest race time. Check it out above to see how he did.
The next episode comes on Sunday, August 30 on the MLS post-game show on FOX Sports 1 and returns to the west – Sporting Kansas City’s Matt Besler will have to beat Zardes’ time.
After Matt, there are a bunch of guys still left to compete: Dom Dwyer, Perry Kitchen, Lovel Palmer, Lee Nguyen, Andrew Farrell, Jordan Stewart, Marcelo Sarvas, Tony Meola, Cobi Jones, and Alexi Lalas.
