The star-studded LA Galaxy-New York City FC showdown will be played in front of a capacity crowd.
The Galaxy announced on Wednesday that their Sunday, Aug. 23 encounter against NYCFC at StubHub Center is sold-out. The matinee match – kick is scheduled for 3 pm ET, 12 pm local time – will be broadcast live on ESPN and ESPN Deportes.
The contest will be the first-ever meeting between LA and NYCFC, and will likely feature both teams’ full cadre of stars in the Galaxy’s Robbie Keane, Steven Gerrard and Giovani dos Santos and New York’s David Villa, Andrea Pirlo and Frank Lampard. The match will also mark the first MLS faceoff between longtime English Premier League rivals and England teammates Gerrard and Lampard.
