FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Jermaine Jones' return to the match day pitch looks to have carried weight beyond the obvious stretch-run ramifications.
In attendance for last Saturday’s match against Toronto FC were Jones’ wife, Sarah, and their five children, making their first full-family trip to the region since the Revs signed Jones as a Designated Player last summer.
The visit provided Jones, whose contract with New England expires at the end of the season, a chance to show his wife the area and see if it might be a place they could settle -- should he and the club decide to renew.
“I love to have my kids around me, and my wife,” Jones said. “It’s nice, it’s the first time they’ve been in Boston. I don’t know what [will] happen, so I want to show them the city and see if they like it.”
Jones sounds like a man willing to extend his time in New England, and is equally content in getting back to business with his club after logging 14 minutes in Saturday's 3-1 victory.
One way to prolong his time in New England is with another deep playoff run, something he feels is a strong possibility, especially as things have unraveled in a similar fashion to last season.
“It’s crazy when you see [the similarities],” said Jones. “You have like six games or something like that we don’t win, now we start to come back. I make my same game like last season against Toronto there we win 3-0, now we win 3-1.
"We hope that everything works out like last season. The team is good, the team has a lot of quality. They have to believe in it.”

Having Jones’ strong, positive vibe back in the mix will help the rest of the club believe.
And having Mrs. Jones provide a positive review of the region could help to keep Jermaine in that mix for more years to come.
“My wife likes Boston,” Jones said. “She likes the city, she likes everything. Now we have to sit down and talk [about] what we can do after the season.”
