David Villa has been there from the beginning. Frank Lampard came along a few weeks ago. And on Wednesday, New York City FC’s international star trio was completed with Italian legend Andrea Pirlo’s first training session with his new team.
The former Juventus midfielder signed with NYCFC in June, ending his four-year stay with the Turin club.
Although Pirlo has just started training, we could be in store for a Pirlo-Kaká showdown this Sunday when NYCFC play host to the Brazilian star’s Orlando City SC club Sunday in a nationally televised match (2:30 pm ET; Fox Sports 1).
A photo gallery of Pirlo’s first stateside session can be found on City’s Facebook page.
