Just how special was Michel's olimpico goal for FC Dallas last weekend?
For starters, it was the second in his MLS career -- a very impressive feat indeed. Scoring directly from a corner kick is unusual, with only a handful of examples the past several seasons.
Michael Bradley scored an olimpico at the StubHub Center this year, but that was in a US national team friendly against Panama in February.
In MLS, the names that have managed an olimpico in competitive action include David Beckham (on July 9, 2011), Marco Pappa (April 28, 2012), Thierry Henry (September 12, 2012). Michel's previous olimpico came on May 18, 2013.
That's not bad company, and kudos to Michel for raising the stakes in notching another direct corner kick goal.
