Gold Cup: Vancouver Whitecaps' Kendall Waston added to Costa Rica roster for knockout stage

Gold Cup: Waston added to Costa Rica roster; Taylor, Powell depart

CONCACAF announced the final changes to rosters in the ongoing 2015 Gold Cup on Thursday, and several MLS players are on the move.

Joining the tournament is Vancouver Whitecaps defender Kendall Waston, who has been called up by Costa Rica national team boss Paulo Wanchope ahead of Los Ticos' quarterfinal clash against Mexico. Waston is replacing former MLS defender Michael Umana on the roster.

Meanwhile, two MLS defenders are departing Jamaica's squad, as Houston Dynamo's Jermaine Taylor and Portland Timbers' Alvas Powell have been replaced by two NCAA players, Sean McFarlane and Omar Holness, before the Reggae Boyz' quarterfinal showdown against Haiti. Powell was reportedly unhappy with his lack of playing time so far in the tournament.

The US previously made three changes, announced on Monday, with Jozy Altidore, Alfredo Morales, and Greg Garza leaving and Alan Gordon, DaMarcus Beasley and Joe Corona joining Jurgen Klinsmann's side.

Teams still involved in the Gold Cup were allowed to make changes between the group and knockout stages, although the only players eligible to be brought into the team were those included in the 30-man provisional rosters for the tournament.
