While Inter Miami CF are still seeking their first victory, the MLS expansion side’s USL affiliate celebrated their first win Saturday night and did so in style.
Fort Lauderdale CF defeated South Georgia Tormenta, 2-1, in USL League One with one-time Real Salt Lake forward Ricky Lopez-Espin scoring what proved to be the winning goal on a spectacular lob from midfield.
Opening the scoring for Jason Kreis’ side was 16-year-old Edizon Azcona, who capped a counter attack with his first goal of the season in the 41st minute. Lopez-Espin, who also scored the first goal in Fort Lauderdale CF history, doubled the lead in the 76th minute.
Next up for Fort Lauderdale CF is a home derby clash with Orlando City B August 14.
