FC Dallas vs. Portland Timbers
TOYOTA STADIUM, Frisco, Tex.
July 25, 2015 (MLS Game # 209)
9 pm ET (MLS Live, ROOT Sports NW, TXA-21)
It’s a critical meeting in the Western Conference when FC Dallas meet the Portland Timbers for a second time this season, Saturday evening at Toyota Stadium. The teams are separated by just three points in the division – FCD holding down the top spot, and the Timbers currently in sixth place and the final playoff position. FC Dallas have won an MLS-high four consecutive games in a row, following their 2-1 home win vs. D.C. United last weekend, while the Timbers hit the road off of a 1-1 draw with Cascadia rivals Vancouver Whitecaps FC at Providence Park.
- FC Dallas won their fourth consecutive game – matching the club’s longest winning streak since a club-record six-game winning run in 1999 – as Fabian Castillo scored his fourth goal in the last five matches, a stoppage-time game-winner for a 2-1 victory against D.C. United on Saturday evening at Toyota Stadium.
- Diego Valeri scored his second goal this season and the Timbers extended their current home undefeated streak to seven games, following their 1-1 draw with Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday evening at Providence Park.
- The teams are meeting for the second time this season. Maximiliano Urruti broke a 1-1 tie midway through the second half and Diego Chara added a late clincher as the Timbers took a 3-1 triumph April 4 at Providence Park.
- The Timbers have won once in six visits all-time to Frisco. FC Dallas have never won at Providence Park, the Timbers winning four of the six league meetings there with two draws.
