Another MLS player has been called up to the US men’s national team’s training camp, with U.S. Soccer announcing on Thursday that FC Dallas defender Matt Hedges has been added to the camp roster by head coach Jurgen Klinsmann.
This is the first career international call up for the 24-year-old Hedges, who has nine goals and one assist in 93 regular season games since being drafted by Dallas in 2012.
He is the 23rd MLS player to join now 29-man USMNT roster, joining league luminaries Michael Bradley, Clint Dempsey and Matt Besler, 2016 Olympic hopefuls Wil Trapp and Luis Gil and FC Dallas teammate – and 2014 AT&T MLS Rookie of the Year – forward Tesho Akindele, among others.
Hedges will join the camp in progress in Carson, Calif., training with the USMNT ahead of their friendlies at Chile on Jan. 28 and against Panama on Feb. 8.
