There is so much interaction these days between MLS clubs and supporters that an argument could be made for fans being as spoiled as ever. After all, they have been able to choose nicknames and crests, design jerseys and have a say in a whole lot more in recent years than they probably could have imagined.
But there is now another item you can add to that list: field design.
FC Dallas are having a little fun with preseason and are asking their fans to vote on which grass pattern they would like to see during the Feb. 20 friendly vs. D.C. United at Toyota Stadium. The four options supporters have to pick from are bullseye, traditional, checkerboard and plaid. The one that receives the most votes before the poll closes on Monday will be on display next week.
Regular-season MLS games have guidelines that restrict which field designs can be used, but they are not in effect during the preseason and Dallas fans can now vote for how they want to see their blades of grass styled next week.
Let the voting, and mowing, begin.
