With numerous calls for important, and uncomfortable, conversations about race to occur, D.C. United hosted what they called “Critical Conversations” on the club’s Twitter and Facebook pages Tuesday.
The “open dialogue on racial inequality” featured D.C. United coach Ben Olsen and star goalkeeper Bill Hamid, as well as former D.C. United players Rodney Wallace and Charlie Davies — along with Charity Blackwell, a spoken word artist, host, emcee, poetry specialist and director of writing at DC SCORES, an organization that tries to instill confidence in children through neighborhood teams, teaching skills to succeed on the playing field, in the classroom and in life.
