D.C. United will be without their star goalkeeper for four to six weeks after announcing on Monday that Bill Hamid underwent separate surgeries on his left hand and right knee.
Hamid had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee to smooth out some meniscus on July 8, and then a procedure to release the flexor tendon of the second MCP joint in his left hand, according to the team.

Hamid, the 2014 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year, most recently missed his fifth game of the season in D.C.’s 1-0 loss to the Seattle Sounders on July 3. Andrew Dykstra started in goal for United in that match, recording four saves.
This season, the 24-year-old Hamid has posted an 8-4-4 record and leads MLS in saves percentage (.819) and goals against average (0.75). He is tied for fourth in the league in shutouts (6) and is sixth in saves (59).
