A pair of clubs looking to haul themselves up the Western Conference table meet when the Colorado Rapids take on the Houston Dynamo at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on Wednesday evening. Both clubs find themselves outside the top six and the playoff-paying positions, the Dynamo three points out of the last spot, and the Rapids a further eight points back. The Rapids return home after putting an end to their three-game losing run with a 1-0 victory at the Chicago Fire, while the Dynamo complete their three-game road swing after gaining a 2-2 draw at the Portland Timbers.
- The Rapids put an end to their three-game losing streak with a 1-0 win at the Chicago Fire, as Dillon Serna scored after 53 seconds.
- The Dynamo continued their three-game road swing with a result, seeing the Portland Timbers come back for a 2-2 draw on Friday evening at Providence Park.
- The teams are meeting for the second time this season. They played to a scoreless draw March 28 at BBVA Compass Stadium.
- The Rapids last lost to the Dynamo in league play in 2009, when the Dynamo took a 1-0 victory at Robertson Stadium. The Rapids have won four of the eight meetings since, with four draws.
