Colorado Rapids Designated Player Kevin Doyle might be new to MLS and the United States, but it appears he's got a good handle on American lingo.
In a recent interview with Sky Sports, Doyle was asked to guess what were the American versions of some English words and phrases. The former Wolverhampton Wanderers forward started out pretty well, correctly translating football to soccer, crisps to potato chips, and pavement to sidewalk.
Things got a bit tougher from there, though, as he missed on candy floss and courgette. We won't tell you what they mean - hey, we figured we'd give you a shot to see how you'd do - but we definitely don't agree that a 1-2 is called a wall-pass on this side of the pond. How about 'give-and-go'?
Yeah, that's better. Way better.
