TOYOTA PARK, Bridgeview, Ill.
October 3, 2015 (WEEK 31, MLS Game #311)
7:30 p.m. CT (CSN-Chi; CSN-NE)

A key clash for the top two spots in the Eastern Conference is ahead when the Chicago Fire play host to the New England Revolution on Saturday evening at Toyota Park. The Revolution come into the game off of a 1-1 home draw with Philadelphia Union last weekend, which left them in a tie for second place in the East, one point behind leaders New York Red Bulls, and can clinch a place in the Audi 2015 MLS Cup Playoffs with a win or draw. The Fire had their losing slide extended to five games in a 3-2 loss at Toronto FC last weekend, which officially eliminated them from playoff contention.

  • The Fire matched their MLS club record with a fifth consecutive loss, officially eliminated from contention for the MLS Cup Playoffs following their 3-2 defeat at Toronto FC on Saturday afternoon.
  • Lee Nguyen scored his sixth goal of the season, but the Revolution had their five-game winning streak at Gillette Stadium put to an end in a 1-1 draw with Philadelphia Union on Saturday evening.
  • The teams are meeting for the third time this season. Diego Fagundez and Charlie Davies scored two minutes apart early in the second half to lead the Revolution to a 2-0 win June 13 at Gillette Stadium; the teams reached a 2-2 draw July 25 at Toyota Park.
  • The Revolution have won just twice all-time at Toyota Park – a 2-1 win in 2006, then a 1-0 victory March 9, 2013. The teams have played to draws in the last two meetings in Bridgeview.
  • The Revolution have won the last two meetings between the teams in Foxborough. When the Fire won there last year, it was their first victory at New England since 2010.
